Uplift Your Teaching Skills with Annie Carpenter

3 Days Yoga Workshop "Uplift Your Teaching Skills" with Annie Carpenter

Friday, May 5th 2023 – Sunday, May 7th 2023 at Ya Wali – up from 450€

We’re honored to offer a three day workshop at Ya Wali with broad input from the dedicated and experienced teachers teacher
Annie Carpenter.

Refine your own practice and your cueing skills as a yoga teacher via Annie’s Movement Principles. You can expect a daily 2-hour Asana practice in the mornings and in the afternoons Annie will focus on essential skills for working with the following populations: Beginners, All-level students & mature students.

Expect strong, clear and balanced practices, as well as anatomy, propping, hands-on assists and sequencing skills so we all can practice Yoga for a very long time!

Each day: 10am -12pm and 1pm – 4:30pm

Day 1: Friday, 05/05/2023

Friday Morning Practice: Hip Articulation and True Forward Bending

This practice brings awareness to the relationship of the hips and pelvis to the lumbar spine, and to moving the hips through their full range of motion while creating appropriate counter-actions for the stability and freedom of the whole spine.

Friday Afternoon: Working with Beginners – Build Self-Awareness

Creating a simple, yet challenging practice which has at its heart the Yogic inquiry “Who am I?“ is our goal. Teach your beginners to sense themselves and to know how they live in their bodies, and how they can mindfully deepen that awareness while building both strength and flexibility exactly where they need it.

Day 2: Saturday, 05/06/2023

Saturday Morning Practice: Shoulders: Range and Stability

This practice will move your shoulders through their full range, while stabilizing the rib case, neck and head. Here we find the greatest – and the most – varied range of possibilities. Teaching both mobility and stability is key.

Saturday Afternoon: Working with All-Levels: Balance – Expansion and Return to the Center

Annie believes that all Yoga, asana, pranayama and the meditation practices, can be explored on a continuum. Each of us – beginner to advanced, flexible or stiff – must find our truth along the continuum. To teach and cue so that every-body is awakened to their own path is our challenge.

Day 3: Sunday, 05/07/2023

Sunday Morning Practice: The Spine and Central Channel

The spine and its inherent curves will be explored in side-bending and spinal twists.  Awareness of breathing patterns and the flow of energy are both guides and gifts.

Sunday Afternoon: Working with a mature population – Presence and Contentment

Depth of understanding the spine and the natural changes that aging brings will inform your classes to bring core strength and improved postural alignment for this population. Since many aging students have multiple diagnoses of physical challenges, breath and/or focusing issues, your sequencing and pacing must be carefully built. Learn common problems and solutions as well as finding the right amount of challenge. In addition, learn to bring the element of “meaning” to your classes, moving your classes from exercise
